TORONTO, ONTARIO – The Urhobo Progress Union of Canada (UPUC) shall hold her highly anticipated 2nd National Convention scheduled to take place from Friday, June 28th to Sunday, June 30th, 2024 at Delta Hotel by Marriot (Belmont Event Centre) 655 Dixon Rd, Etobicoke, ON, M9W1J3
This year’s convention, as announced by Chief Mudiaga Akpocha, Chairman of the event, and conveyed by Evelyn Obos, the Publicity Chairperson, promises to be an exceptional gathering. It will unite Urhobo indigenes and friends of the Urhobo community from across Canada and beyond. The convention will showcase a variety of activities designed to celebrate Urhobo culture, promote community engagement, and contribute positively both locally and internationally.
One of the convention’s main highlights is UPUC’s philanthropic initiative, which includes donating hospital equipment to a Nigerian hospital, highlighting its commitment to healthcare infrastructure in Urhobo land and beyond. Moreover, UPUC will acquire Urhobo Community House, offering a dedicated venue for cultural, educational, and community activities, while also distributing backpacks and educational materials to children to uphold its dedication to education and accessibility for Urhobo youth.
The release further emphasizes that the convention will also feature guest appearances by Urhobo celebrities, adding excitement and star power to the event. Attendees can look forward to engaging lectures by Urhobo intellectuals, cultural displays showcasing the rich heritage of the Urhobo people, and much more.
