The revered and outspoken monarch emphasized to US business stakeholders that, beyond oil and gas, the Niger Delta is open to opportunities in tourism, hydropower generation, and agriculture.
The veteran journalist-turned-royal father spoke at the two-day Niger Delta Georgia Economic Business Development Summit, held at the Hilton Hotel and Conference Center in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 26 and 27, 2024.
Addressing the participants, including Georgia State Senator Donzella James and other US government officials, the Idjerhe Monarch highlighted that the region, particularly the Idjerhe Kingdom, is rich in resources and ready to welcome foreign investors.
Udurhie 1 assured that the people of Nigeria and the traditional institution will provide the security and support necessary to foster the growth of investments in the region.
The event was attended by notable Nigerian officials, including the Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, and Chairwoman Lisa Cupid of the Georgia County Board of Commissioners. Organized by the Niger Delta People’s Movement, the summit also featured participants from the Atlanta business community and various government officials, including a serving U.S. Senator.
