On Saturday, March 2, 2024, a somber gathering of dignitaries from various spheres of life converged at Ugono-Orogun town, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, to bid farewell to the late Mama Agnes Achugbue (Nee Umukoro), the beloved mother of the Librarian of Federal Polytechnic, Orogun, Chief Dr. Edwin Achugbue and his siblings.
The ceremony, which commenced with a Service of Songs on March 1, saw a host of notable attendees, including Dr. Otive Igbuzor, Chief of Staff to former Deputy President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, paying their respects to the departed. Among the attendees were Dr. Duke Okoro, Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Orogun Hon. Matthew Onojighofia Omonade, Chief Amos Agboje, Chief Jones Esombi, Mr. and Mrs Monday Osasah, Mr. Jimmy Omo-Agege, Prof. Sunny Awhefeada, Adjerese Oghene-Meshach Anuku, Chief Monday Itoghor, Hon. Chuks Erhire, Mr. Progress Omo-Agege, each offering condolences and support to Chief Dr. Edwin Achugbue and his family during this difficult time.
Late Mama Agnes Achugbue, aged 83, was laid to rest in a solemn ceremony on March 2, following the Order of Programme outlined for the Service of Songs and Funeral Service/Interment. Presiding over the ceremonies were esteemed ministers and pastors, including Pastor & (Mrs) John Atigogo, Bro Ononkete, Revd. Awerotode Ufuoma Ishani and Mrs Mabel Onunkete who led the congregation in prayer and hymns, providing solace and comfort to the grieving family.
The funeral proceedings, filled with hymns and scriptures, served as a poignant reminder of the cherished memories and legacy left behind by the late Mama Agnes Achugbue. Messages of love, remembrance, and gratitude were shared by family members and friends, honouring her life and the impact she had on those around her.
