Recently, Chief Hon. Mrs. Betty Onakpoma JP, Senior Special Assistant on Women Mobilization to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, led a delegation of Delta Women in Politics (DEWIP) on a courtesy visit to Honourable Commissioner Orode Uduaghan, Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Girl-Child Development, in Asaba.
The meeting aimed to foster a corporate partnership between DEWIP and the Humanitarian Ministry in alignment with Governor Oborevwori’s MORE agenda.
During the visit, Chief Onakpoma outlined DEWIP’s mission to empower women in Delta State, stressing the importance of collaboration with key government bodies. She emphasized that DEWIP’s objectives align with her role as Senior Special Assistant on Women Mobilization, which includes driving initiatives to strengthen the MORE agenda’s focus on women’s advancement and inclusive governance.
Chief Onakpoma also noted that the Humanitarian Ministry, under Commissioner Uduaghan’s leadership, is a critical stakeholder in promoting women’s welfare and ensuring sustainable development for all women in the state.
Governor Oborevwori’s MORE agenda has established various structures and programs to uplift women, and the partnership with DEWIP seeks to further enhance these efforts by creating opportunities for collaboration across strategic sectors.
The visit reaffirmed the commitment of both DEWIP and the Ministry to advancing the welfare of women and girls across Delta State.
