“I urge you to encourage youths in this kingdom to get involved in productive and sustainable developmental activities”– Gov. Oborevwori
The Youth President of Urhobo Progress Union, the umbrella body of the Urhobo Socio-Cultural organization, Activist Blessed Ughere, has thrown his weight behind the Orogun Youth Arise Conference billed to be held on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at the Orogun Civic Centre, Otorho-Orogun.
According to Ughere, “I want to commend Comrade Hitler Oghenenyerhovwo Romeo, who doubles as the Assistant Secretary UPU Youth Wing, World Wide, and the Orogun Youth Representative for partnering with the Orogun Youth Council led by Mr. Ovoke Oteri and Mr. Foster Akpore of Alliance for Leadership, Equity and Good Governance for putting this programme together. I also thank HRM Omoefe Ozenikpe 1, the Okpara-Uku of Orogun Kingdom, and Chief Barr. Benson Ndakara, the President General of Orogun, Dr. Otive Igbuzor, Prof. Sunny Awhefeada, and others for their disposition to promote the interest of the youths. I recommend a scale-up of this programme across all the twenty-four kingdoms that make up the Urhobo nation so that the youths of Urhobo can be taken from where it is to a greater height.”
Ughere’s endorsement adds significant momentum to the upcoming conference, which aims to empower the youth of Orogun and address pressing issues affecting their development. Endorsed by the Okpara-Uku-in-Council and the President-General of Orogun Kingdom, the event is a collaborative effort between the Orogun Youth Council and a non-governmental organization, the Alliance for Leadership, Equity, and Good Governance (ALEGG).
Also responding, Comr. Hitler Oghenenyerhovwo Romeo, Assistant Secretary UPU YW WW, “One of the enablers of this program is Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon (Elder) Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, who urged Orogun youths “to engage in productive and sustainable developmental activities” during the staff of office presentation to or revered monarch, HRM Omoefe Ozenikpe 1, the Okpara-Uku of Orogun kingdom. In response to that, we aim to, with this programme and others on the drawing board to ensure unity among our youths both within and outside the Kingdom, changing the narrative about Orogun for the better so that leaders and prominent individuals will be eager to associate with us. Let’s support the youths as they work to bring forth better ideas for the kingdom’s growth, promising projects that foster unity and growth shortly.”
Scheduled to commence at 11:00 am and conclude at 5:00 pm, the conference promises to be a transformative gathering, focusing on critical discussions, skill-building workshops, and launching youth-centric initiatives.
